Fall/Winter 2022 Color Trends

Fall/Winter 2022 Color Trends

Ready! It's official! The Fall/Winter 2022 Fashion Weeks are over and they have left us with a wide variety of proposals that would take us several days to analyze. color palette

We have seen shows ranging from something more Ready-To-Wear to more Campy inspirations.

However, what most catches our attention when we see each of the catwalks is the coincidence in the color palette used in the garments, but is this really a coincidence? Well, the truth is, it's 50/50 and why do I say this?

For some years now, the crazy inspirations of creative directors have been limited by the financial department of their own firms, because more than spectacular designs in spectacular colours, the sales index weighs more.

So what can they do?

One solution is to consult trend analysts about the color palette that will be used in the coming seasons and create collections based on that.

One of these experts is the Pantone Color Institute , who conduct a market analysis, where economic, historical and social factors influence in order to propose trends in fashion, graphic design, architecture and more.

After the pandemic, which began in March 2020, the trends have been very diverse and have disrupted the entire schedule that was had for these years because, as you know or have realized, fashion is cyclical and this is not happening as before.

Society still lives in teleworking and/or avoids going out as usual, seeks comfort when dressing and no longer cares about feeling so glamorous .

So what are we seeing on the runways?

Well, we are experiencing a coexistence between dressing comfortably and practically using fairly neutral and natural colors, versus the search for freedom and celebration through very bright colors.

In total, more than 20 trending colors have been detected, but for this article we will analyze only 7.

Having said all this, how about we divide the trending colours for this winter using these two perspectives?

Now comes the hardest task, reviewing each catwalk in detail, but since this is not going to happen, I will analyze the parade of 15 brands that, in my opinion, have seemed to me to be the most interesting and influential at present.

And the following are invited: Carolina Herrera, Dion Lee, Fendi, Gucci, Prada, Versace, David Koma, Richard Quinn, Off-White, Dior, Acne Studios, Balmain, Loewe, Valentino and Jacquemus.

Strawberry Cream (13-2005)
Autumn Blonde (12-0813)
Quiet Shade (18-4006)
Artic Wolf (12-0602)

Finally, as I always like to say, fashion is free and open to interpretation. Dress as you like, explore, make mistakes and have fun with it.

Erick.
